One great thing about the Frigidaire dishwasher is that it shows error codes right on the display panel to make it easier for you to troubleshoot and fix different issues.

If you happen to see a UO error code on your Frigidaire dishwasher panel, then it means there is a problem with the vent.

Dealing with a vent issue can be frustrating for you. However, there is no need to worry. In this article, you will learn what the UO error code means and the right troubleshooting tips to get your dishwasher running smoothly again.

What does UO mean on the Frigidaire dishwasher?

The UO error code on a Frigidaire dishwasher means that the vent is open. The vent and fan are located at the back of the dishwasher tub in the top right corner. Their role is to dry the dishes at the end of the cycle. Therefore, if the dishwasher detects that the vent is open, it won’t start the cycle.

Normally, you will see water filling in the water tank, followed by four or five click sounds. After that, the UO error code displays on the LED display. When you press the Cancel button, water will drain out of the dishwasher, but the error persists.

Troubleshooting the UO error code

Follow these steps to troubleshoot and fix issues with the vent on a Frigidaire dishwasher.

1. Restart the dishwasher

Restarting the dishwasher is the simplest way of clearing error codes. The UO error code may be a false signal emitted by the control board because of a system glitch and a restart is all you need to fix it.

To restart your dishwasher, unplug it from the power supply and let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes before plugging it back.

Once it has rebooted, check where the error code has cleared from the LED display. For accuracy, perform a diagnostic test by simultaneously pressing the Air Dry and Start buttons for three seconds. If not, the internal parts such as the wiring, vent, and cap are faulty and require to be cleaned or replaced.

2. Check the wiring and connections

Frigidaire manufacturers advise that you start by checking the wiring and connections between the vent assembly and the main control board.

If they are in good condition, the vent may be faulty and require replacement. If this method, however, does not clear the error code, you should replace the control board.

3. Tighten the metal cap

The vent is a metal cylinder at the top right corner of the sink. If it is faulty, it stops the cycle and needs replacement. First, detach the metal cap and ensure that the internal plastic cap is screwed on.

If it’s not or the vent has no cap, screw the metal cap in place. You can find a metal cap at the hardware store. Make sure to buy one that is compatible with the model of your dishwasher.

Next, replace the inner and outer cap to close the vent and clear the error code. If the error code is still showing, the vent is faulty and needs to be checked.

4. Clean the vent

Another effective way of fixing the error code on the Frigidaire dishwasher is by cleaning the vent. This is because vents may clog and fail over time.

You should start by removing the outer and inner caps of the vent. The next step is to place a siphon on the vent’s opening. You can also use a paper towel tube because it easily fits in the dishwasher vent opening.

Blow into one end of the siphon or paper towel tube to clear out any food or gunk that has blocked the vent. Alternatively, you can clean the vent using your fingers.

Replace the metal cap and switch on the dishwasher to see whether it runs smoothly and the error code clears off the display. If not, repeat the process above to clean the remaining junk in the vent.

5. Faulty valve and sensor

If the vent and wiring are in a good condition and the error code is still displaying on the LED display, you should check the valve and sensor. First, clean the limescale and soap residue that may have built up inside the valve and sensor using hard water.

Below are steps on how to do it:

  • Turn off the Frigidaire dishwasher and unplug it from the power supply.
  • Detach the bottom panel and unscrew the screws holding the fixing ring.
  • Turn over the vent and pump fan assembly.
  • Take off the vent cover using a screwdriver to reveal the rubber valve.
  • Disconnect the wires using a plier to remove them.
  • Run the valve under running water to remove the residue or wipe it with a paper towel or microfiber cloth.
  • Finally, reconnect all the components in the dishwasher and reboot it.

This method fixes the UO error code most of the time. If it does not, you should check the optical sensor. Its function is to tell the correct position of the water sprayer or plunger.

The sensor is located on a flat plate at the back of the valve. Remove the residue clogging it using a nylon brush and lens solution. Hopefully, this will clear the UO error code.

6. Replace the control board

If the UO error code persists, the main control board is faulty and needs to be replaced. You should contact a professional technician to diagnose the control board and replace it with a functioning one. It is an important element in a Frigidaire dishwasher and if faulty, the dishwasher will not work.

Restored Frigidaire dishwasher

The UO error code on a Frigidaire dishwasher means that the vent is open, preventing dishes from drying after the cycle. There are several reasons behind it, including a system glitch, loose meta cap, clogged vent, valve, and sensor.

The above troubleshooting tips will solve these problems and clear the error code. If, however, it persists, contact a professional technician or Frigidaire customer service to help you and fix your dishwasher back to normal.

The LG franchise is the leading home appliance manufacturer in the market. Its dishwasher is a stress-free machine you can rely on to wash your dishes for a long time. There is, however, a situation where Your LG dishwasher’s drying feature doesn’t work and you have to take dishes out while dripping wet.

If you’re reading this article, your dishwasher might not dry dishes, even at LG dishwasher dry only cycle. Some of the reasons why this can happen include improper loading to incorrect settings.

This article will explain why your LG dishwasher is not drying dishes and provide troubleshooting tips to solve them.

How to fix an LG dishwasher that is not drying dishes

You might find yourself with a dishtowel in hand and think it’s the end of your dishwasher’s wash cycle when there are several reasons why your LG dishwasher is not drying. We have come up with the common reasons why it behaves like this and troubleshooting tips to fix them.

1. Improper loading

The common reason why your dishwasher isn’t drying is that your dishes are improperly loaded. Overloading dishes prevents hot air from circulating in the dishwasher and drying the dishes.

You can prevent this problem by arranging each dish in its respective slot for proper hot air circulation. Glassware and bowls should be placed upside down to improve airflow. All silverware should be placed next to each other in the silverware basket to prevent overcrowding.

2. Incorrect wash cycle

Another reason your dishwasher is still wet inside is that it is set on the wrong wash cycle. You, therefore, need to adjust the dishwasher’s wash cycle as per the load’s need.

Dirty dishes require longer wash and drying cycles, such as the Heavy settings. Other dishes require settings such as the High Temp cycle to improve evaporation and drying.

3. Adjust the drying features

LG dishwashers have additional features that help dry the dishes faster like the Extra Dry setting that helps raise the drying temperature and lengthen its drying time.

There is also a Night Dry setting that runs a fan throughout the night and ensures that dishes are completely dry in the morning.

You can also adjust the dishwasher to the sanitary rinse setting that creates hotter dishes so that they dry at a slower pace and improve their overall drying.

4. Check the rinse aid

An LG dishwasher

Rinse aid is a drying agent that is used during the cleaning cycle. Rinse aid not only makes glassware shine but also breaks the water’s surface tension and prevents droplets from forming on dishes. It, therefore, makes right through the dishes and leaves them completely dry and efficient.

If you notice that your dishes are still wet in the dishwasher, add a rinse aid before starting a wash cycle. You can refer to the LG’s user manual to verify the right amount of rinse aid to use for each wash load.

5. Plastic dishes are still wet after washing

The plastic items are not drying in the dishwasher because they cannot maintain heat like glass and stainless steel.

In this case, separate the plastic dishes from the other dish loads during the washing cycle. It will allow them to dry slowly without disrupting the drying cycle or re-wetting the other dishes.

6. Activate the Auto Open Door function

The dishes are still wet in the dishwasher because the Auto Open Door (AOD) feature is disabled. The AOD feature is available in some LG dishwasher models and it improves drying performance by automatically opening itself at the end of the wash cycle.

If you use an LG dishwasher model that does not have the AOD feature, slightly open the door after the cleaning cycle to improve the drying results. The moist air escapes from the dishwasher instead of condensing on the dishes.

Rounding up

It is tiresome to dry off dripping wet dishes one by one from the dishwasher. There are several reasons why the LG dishwasher is not drying dishes, from overloading dishes to incorrect heat settings.

If you have tried all the above troubleshooting techniques and the dishes are still dripping wet after a wash and dry cycle, there may be a technical malfunction. You should, therefore, consult a professional technician to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

A dishwasher comes in handy when cleaning loads of dishes because it saves time, energy, and water. Since it is very useful, it is annoying when your dishwasher does not work or does not start.

There are various reasons why your Whirlpool dishwasher won’t start, maybe it is not correctly plugged in or the dishwasher’s drive motor is defective.

This article outlines the most common reasons why your Whirlpool dishwasher won’t start a cycle or won’t work at all. It will also guide you on troubleshooting tips you can apply when it happens.

Whirlpool dishwasher troubleshooting tips

Follow these troubleshooting tips to identify and fix issues with your Whirlpool dishwasher:

1. Power supply connection

The main reason why your Whirlpool dishwasher won’t turn on is that it is not connected to the power supply. Alternatively, your house is experiencing a power outage or there is not enough voltage supply to the dishwasher.

You should, therefore, ensure that the dishwasher is correctly plugged into the socket and it is switched on. The wire cords should also be properly insulated to prevent short-circuiting. If the power outage lasts for a long time, contact your electrician to troubleshoot the electrical issue.

2. The door is not properly closed

Whirlpool dishwasher

Your Whirlpool dishwasher is not starting because the door is open or it is not properly shut. You should ensure that the door latches on both sides are in good condition. Remove any obstacle that is preventing the door from properly closing.

If you try to close the door and it opens itself, then the door has a technical issue. It may be that the door latch is faulty and requires replacement. The door switch may also be faulty and is preventing the dishwasher from starting.

3. Wrong dishwasher cycle

Another reason why your Whirlpool dishwasher won’t start the cycle might be because it is set at the wrong dishwasher cycle settings. There are a few settings that may hinder your dishwasher from starting.

The Delay Start function prevents the dishwasher from starting until the set time elapses. To disable it, press the Cancel/Drain to stop it and then press Start/Resume to begin the cycle.

The Control Lock function prevents the user from accessing the control panel and requires resetting. If this is the case, you can turn it off by pressing and holding the Lock Button for four seconds until the lock light turns off.

4. Reset the Whirlpool dishwasher

Your dishwasher may be experiencing glitches and failing to turn on. Resetting the dishwasher is considered the best solution when it does not start.

You can reset the Whirlpool dishwasher by unplugging it from the power socket and switching off the circuit breaker. Wait for a minute for the dishwasher to adjust its settings before plugging it back in.

5. Insufficient water supply

The water supply to your dishwasher may be insufficient to start your Whirlpool dishwasher. Ensure that it is correctly connected to the house water supply and it is at the proper pressure.

There should also be no drips or leaks from the dishwasher’s water pipes. If there is any, fix them to prevent wastage of water.

6. Defective drive motor

The function of the drive motor is to transport water into the dishwasher. If it is defective, there is no way that the dishwasher will start. To know whether the drive motor is faulty, you will hear a loud humming sound coming from inside the dishwasher.

A defective drive motor needs a replacement for the dishwasher to turn on. You, therefore, need to contact a professional repair technician to replace it.

In conclusion

A dishwasher is an excellent home appliance that is set to serve you for a long time. It is therefore inconvenient when it suddenly does not start or run. There are several reasons why the Whirlpool dishwasher is not working, including insufficient water supply, electrical issues, or a faulty drive.

Some of these problems can be easily solved by resetting the dishwasher or adjusting its settings. There are other technical issues, such as a faulty door latch or drive motor that requires a professional repair technician to troubleshoot.

Once the problem has been fixed, remember to take good care of the dishwasher by servicing it every month. You should also create a cleaning routine to remove the food bits and remains that are cleaned from the dishes.

In this article, you will learn how to set a Kenmore dishwasher in a diagnostic mode and how to troubleshoot the problem.

What is a diagnostic mode on a Kenmore dishwasher?

Many factors may contribute to your dishwasher not working. Each of them has a diagnosis method and how you can solve it. A diagnostic mode is a test done by the Kenmore dishwasher to identify the problem affecting it and find its solution.

All the different Kenmore dishwasher models use the same self-diagnostic mode to analyze the system’s problem. The diagnostic mode saves on repair bills since it helps solve minor issues in a short span of time and at no extra cost.

Frigidaire is popular for its home appliances, especially its Gallery dishwasher which is one of the best on the market. The manufacturers added a feature to the dishwasher to display error codes when there is a technical problem. An example of an error code is the PF code, which means there is a power failure in the house.

If you have seen the PF code on your Frigidaire dishwasher and do not know what to do, we will explain its meaning and how you can fix it. You will also learn how to run a diagnostic test and troubleshoot it through resetting.

What does PF mean on a Frigidaire dishwasher?

The PF code is the Frigidaire dishwasher’s error code that implies there is a power failure or outage in your home. The PF code is accompanied by the HI-TEMP WASH and NO HEAT DRY indicator lights flashing.

Once the power returns, the Frigidaire dishwasher resumes working normally. It is important, however, to investigate the cause of the power cutoff.

The PF error code may also mean that the control board or control panel keyboard has been exposed to moisture, hence causing the dishwasher to fail at some point.

How to fix the PF error code on a Frigidaire dishwasher

Start off by ensuring that enough voltage is supplied to the dishwasher. If the voltage is enough, restart the dishwasher by switching it off for five minutes or press the Start/Cancel button until the error code clears.

The Start/Cancel button is situated on the far-right side of the control pad. Once you have pressed the button, you can continue using your dishwasher, which may prompt you to restart the cycle from the beginning.

All Frigidaire appliances have LCDs that show the current time. When there is a power outage, the LCD display will turn off. When it is restored, it will either display the time as 00:00 or 12:00. It, therefore, needs to be reset to the current time.

How to reset the Frigidaire dishwasher

Resetting the dishwasher is another alternative to solving the power failure problem. It is done by pressing the Start/Cancel button for three seconds until the error code on the LCD display clears or changes. After that, let the dishwasher rest for approximately five minutes to restore its factory defaults.

You can restart the dishwasher by pressing the Start button for two seconds. It will resume working normally once you have completed all these steps.

Another method is simply disconnecting the dishwasher from the power socket for five minutes and then plugging it back in. If both methods do not work, you should contact a repair technician to diagnose and repair the dishwasher.

Why is my Frigidaire dishwasher not working?

You have applied all the procedures to reset your dishwasher, but it still does not work.

Well, you should contact the electrician or the neighborhood’s power company if power has not been restored for a long time.

How to run a diagnostic on a Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher

You can run a self-diagnosis on the dishwasher as a way to troubleshoot it. The diagnostic feature enables you to discover what is wrong with your dishwasher and how you can fix it. The steps to accomplish this are as follows:

  • Set the dishwasher into idle or power failure mode.
  • Simultaneously press the Hi-Temp Wash button and Start/Cancel button for half a second.
  • The test mode will be activated if the buttons are pressed correctly. Then, when the indicator lights start flashing, you can release the buttons.

Run up the dishwasher

The Frigidaire merchandise has different error codes that indicate different malfunctions in the dishwasher that require fixing. They are displayed on the LCD or indicated by flashing indicator lights.

The Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher has the code PF to mean there is a power failure in your home. Despite its inevitability, its solution is easy and fixable. If you have tried the above procedure and the error code persists, you will either need to troubleshoot the dishwasher or call a repair technician to service it.
