Frigidaire oven door locked and flashes DR-0? How to fix

While Frigidaire ovens are some of the most reliable on the market, sometimes they may fail just like any other brand. One common issue is when the oven door locks itself and displays a DR-0 error code on the LCD screen.

When this happens, your oven may be in lock mode. In this article, you will learn what the lock mode is and how to fix your oven door back to normal. You will also learn what the error code DR-0 means and how you can clear it easily.

What does the error code DR-0 mean?

The error code DR (Door lock mode) means there is a problem with the door lock. This error is very common, especially among new Frigidaire ovens. It is related to a defective door latch, electronic oven control (EOC), or door switch.

Now that you’ve known what this error indicates, here are 5 ways to fix it.

1. Unplug the oven from the power source

You can begin by unplugging the oven from the power source. Wait for the oven to rest for ten minutes before plugging it back into the socket.

This is the easiest way to fix it and a sure way of clearing the error codes.

2. Reset the lockout feature

The oven is programmed to lock the oven door or its control pad. To unlock this feature, press and hold the Clear/Off pad for three seconds. The control panel will unlock the oven’s door and operate as normal.

3. Restart the oven

You can also try to unlock the oven door by pressing the Clear/Reset button designed to turn off the oven.

Give the oven about 30 minutes to one and a half hours before sliding the door latch to the left. You can turn the knobs back to clean mode if the door remains locked and slide the door latch over.

4. Reset to self-cleaning cycle

If the door remains locked, set the oven to the self-cleaning cycle. Let the cycle run for one minute before you cancel it.

5. Replace the faulty door latch

If it does not work, then the Frigidaire oven door is locked because of a faulty EOC, door latch, or light switch. You can either fix them on your own or you can contact a technician to service them.

In case it is a faulty door latch, you can try the following procedure:

  • Reset the oven switching off the breaker to the unit for one minute.
  • Switch on the breaker, press the door and hold it in place for one or two minutes.
  • If it doesn’t work, you can try to switch the oven to self-clean mode, let it load for one minute, and turn it off to check if the door latch assembly will be reset.
  • If not, you should find a way to open the door and replace the door latch manually. You will need a strong tool, for example, a cotter pin puller or Allen wrench.
  • Tug the door latch assembly from right to left and slide it down between the door and the top of the oven frame. The door will eventually open after several attempts.
  • You can then remove the panel holding down the door latch assembly and replace it with a new one.

If you have tried all the methods above and the door is still locked, you should contact a repair technician to service your Frigidaire oven door.

Conclusion

Issues such as a Frigidaire oven door that is locked or flashes DR-0 can be frustrating. The problem can be easy to fix by simply switching the oven off to diagnose the error from a faulty door latch, EOC, or light switch.

You can solve these issues by yourself or simply by contacting a repair technician to fix the oven door. Once the door is opened, you can replace the latch assembly or light switch and resume using your oven normally.
