It can be stressful if your Samsung dryer is not heating but there is no error code. When this happens, chances are that the dryer’s heating elements have burnt or failed.
However, this isn’t the only reason why your Samsung front load dryer is not heating. We have covered some of the most common reasons and explained how you can fix it. You will also learn how to troubleshoot the dryer to diagnose the problem.
Reasons why your Samsung dryer is not heating
These are some of the reasons that may be preventing your Samsung dryer to work as it should and their troubleshooting tips.
1. The heating element is burnt-out
A burnt heating element is the most common reason your Samsung electric dryer is not heating. It is responsible for producing heat that dries your wet clothes. The heating element may be defective because of improper ventilation or wearing out.
If you notice a burning smell, you can check whether the heating element is burnt virtually or using a multimeter.
To solve this problem, replace the burnt heating element with a new one. You can use a user guide manual to locate the heating element.

Below are the steps to follow when replacing the heating element:
- Unplug the Samsung dryer from the power supply.
- Undo the screws at the back of the dryer and remove the lid.
- Lift the control panel off and remove the wire harness that secures the control panel to the dryer.
- Undo the four screws that hold down the front panel.
- Open the dryer’s door and unscrew the two screws located at the base of the door.
- Lower the locking tabs and remove the front panel.
- Detach the door’s switch wire and remove the panel.
- Detach the moisture sensor wiring harness and unscrew the screws securing the heating element casing. Remove the casing from the mounting bracket.
- Undo the screws that secure the mounting bracket and lift it off.
- Separate the heating element from the wire harness. Note that you should not remove the wire harness connected to the thermostat or high limit switch.
- Make the wire terminal straight and remove it alongside the heating element.
- You can then replace the burnt-out heating element with a new one and reassemble all the parts together.
If this process is difficult for you, contact your technician to service your Samsung dryer.
2. Blocked vent line
When the vent and filters are blocked, they emit low heat and leave your clothes damp. You, therefore, need to conduct a Samsung dryer filter check to make sure the lint screen is empty. Examine the ventilation hose and remove the panel that covers it to see if there are more blockages.
Samsung recommends cleaning the external vent once a year to prevent blockage. You can clean it using a vacuum attachment or ventilation cleaning kit to clean the vent. You can check if there is proper ventilation by feeling warm airflow where air leaves the house.

3. Failed thermostat
It may be that your Samsung electric dryer is not heating because of a defective thermostat. You can check its condition using a multimeter.
The thermistor and thermostat are located near the heating element. If either the thermostat or thermistor fails the multimeter test, you need to contact a repair technician to repair them.
4. Faulty thermal fuse
The dryer’s thermal fuse may have blown up due to abnormal temperatures. It is designed to burn out to protect the dryer from overheating and further damage. The solution to this is to replace the burnt-out fuse with a new one.
You can choose to fix the thermal fuse on your own or contact a technician to do it for you. Just remember to clean the vents to prevent another burnout and overheating.
Wrapping up
Now that you have known why your Samsung front load dryer is not heating, you can either choose to fix it on your own or contact a technician to repair it for you. Either way, your Samsung dryer should heat up and resume work normally.
